Tianjin Railway Station, also known as Tianjin East Station, is located on the north bank of the Haihe River at the junction of Hebei District and Hedong District in Tianjin, China. As a special-class station under the jurisdiction of the China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd., it is a large transportation hub integrating railways, subways, buses, taxis, and other modes of transport, serving as a vital component of Tianjin's railway hub.
History & Scale
First built in 1886 (12th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty) and officially opened for operation in 1888 (14th year of the Guangxu reign).
Underwent three major expansions and renovations in 1950, 1987, and 2008, with the post-2008 renovation completed and put into use on August 1, 2008.
As of September 2009, the station has a total construction area of 185,000 square meters, with a station yard layout of 10 platforms and 18 tracks, capable of accommodating 6,000 passengers waiting simultaneously.
